One of the oldest and largest brick stupas in the country, standing on a raised platform in the middle of dry-zone forest twenty minutes south of the kitchen. Restoration work over the last few years has brought back its full domed shape — you can now walk right up to it.
The site is quiet, dramatic in scale, and almost never crowded. Warm red brickwork glows at golden hour and the surrounding forest gives it a real sense of being somewhere old.
Good as a solo stop or paired with Magul Maha Viharaya for a half-day of ancient sites. Modest dress and shoes off before stepping onto the platform.
